During the time in which I had used speed tree in order to construct different pieces of foliage in Speed Tree, I felt that I was missing part of iconic foliage which would really suit the environment that we were constructing. The fern is fairly common in the source material that we are looking at, however, there were no tutorials on the matter.

| The Fern that is the Transparency Map. |
I had never attempted to create transparency maps at all, so this was a new experience for me. I looked at images of ferns and saw that they all originate from the middle and spread over each other. I then proceeded to create a plane, angle it so it shoots out of the center, duplicated it several times and dangles over the other planes.

The next step was gather the image of the fern, then U.V the plane to the fern. I then took it into Photoshop, deleted the outside of the phone and then saved it as a png file. I took this into Unity and made sure that it was "Cutout" in the material setting, getting the result.
Im really happy with the result, especially since this was one of the first times I had used transparency maps.
